So, Carolyn. My wife and I are the only owners of a corporation. You would have us not be able to use corporate money for political purposes. Strange. If we were organized as a partnership or as a sole proprietorship, we could use business money for political purposes with no constraint. You're really not thinking things through.

The internet bubble and resultant capital gains taxes balanced the budget. Neither Clinton nor the Republican Congress had anything to do with it.

Actually, Gene, Bob hasn't lived in Boulder for quite a while.

Both my plumber and the county inspector ignored a major mistake. It wasn't until a year ago, about 10 months after we moved in, that the hot water system caused a filter to explode. It took me 10 minutes with Google to figure out the design flaw. You say the inspectors are "underpaid, over woked, etc. etc." I say they are incompetent. Managing my own house building projects, I've dealt with lots of inspectors over the last 35 years.

Regarding risk management, there has been no hint that this isn't covered and that Muller doesn't have the funds to replace the bridge. Just remember, what he's being asked to put in is essentially the same thing the county took out and replaced with an inferior design which caused the problem he is dealing with today.

I'm simply a finance nerd. I've had enough issues caused by government mandates of various types over the years that I react negatively to virtually any government mandate. I do not trust them to draft laws and regulations that are logical and practical. Enforcing the law as written is pretty lame when they created the situation that caused the problem.

It was the county who took out a functional, safe bridge, put in a culvert, and created a flood hazard. It was the county who "inspected" my new house, didn't get the plumbing properly inspected, and allowed a dangerous situation to evolve. If you're trusting the county, you're at risk.

Thank you. As usual, the county is complicit in the problem.

Actually, the "temp" bridge he put in is probably safer than what the county will insist on him building. The one lane traffic it allows certainly reduces speeds and is better than what was there before.

"By 2008, it was up to 10 percent of men (205 million people) and 14 percent of women (297 million people.)"

It would be helpful if you explained what you're referring to here since these numbers obviously don't make sense for the United States of America.

Econ 101 would call the higher property values the result of supply and demand.
