To quote a spokesperson from the PSNI, “There is no other ulterior motive other than investigating a murder, that is our position. We are a totally impartial police service, as we have demonstrated in the past.
“We were accused of being biased when we went after the loyalists and there was talk of the ‘greening of the PSNI'."
Let them do their job!
We could do with a Pat Jennings and a George Best now. Had the priviledge of seeing them a number of times.
Capitalism is man exploiting man, communism is the opposite.
I'm not ignoring anything, you seemed to miss an important stat when trying to denigrate NI. I happen to respect many of the advances made in the RoI in recent times. I am not British because it gives me some economic advantage and if there is ever a referendum on the border issue I won't be swayed by any potential economic advantage, one way or the other.
I have always regarded myself as a unionist, I guess I still am but I will not be referring to myself as 'unionist' from now on but rather as 'pro-union'. I,and I hope many 'pro-union' voters and indeed many 'pro-united Ireland' voters, will be giving their first preference votes to Anna Lo and the Alliance council election candidates. Alliance has shown its strength and determination to drag NI out of the 20th century. The constitutional question is a non-issue at present. There is no likelyhood of a UI in the forseeable future and indeed there is no likelyhood of a referenda on it any time soon.
At least one less than Frostyknickers seems to know.
Yet the EU recently released figures showing unemployment in NI at 7.3% in 2013 and 13% in ROI
Barely literate? How many illiterates do you know that are a Batchelor of Science with a Dip S W?
Unfortunately a knock on effect of Ulster Rugby's success is that we get more supporters who do not, as yet it is hoped, understand and buy into the traditions of the game. I know professionalism has changed things a lot but we should cherish our history of respecting opposition kickers, accepting - even if we don't agree with - refereeing decisions. Having said that it was a bad decision. The referee, even if he thought Payne's actions were deliberate, had the option to sin bin him. He was influenced by the TMO and the more I look at the clip the more convinced I am that it was a purely accidental clash. The referee made the wrong decision in my view but the decision was made and Ulster responded superbly. Saracens knew they were in a game and were relieved when the final whistle went. I was gutted by the result but can't wait for next seasons new version of the H Cup. We can't be the final winners of the Heineken but we can be the first winners of the new competition SUFTUM!
Thanks for your understanding zenhombre however I don't understand why you would assume my family (as in my ancestors?) wasn't imperialised by an invading nation or why you seem to suggest that I have been in some way privileged.
Maybe if you understood Irish history a liitle better you would understand my posting name.
