Ah yes, you could be right about it being Upson - in which case it'd be worth signing Bellamy just to see his face! I forgot I should never trust my memory.
There is one issue with Bellamy to take into account. If I recall correctly (by no means a certainty) when Bellamy left West Ham Parker came out publicly saying words to the effect that he was glad to see the back of him. I know they'll always be personality clashes, especially where Bellamy is concerned, but think it's unlikely Sullivan will risk rocking the boat while his very own 'Mr West Ham' has a contract extension to sign.
All they've done since they took over is go on about how terrible things are. This has clearly been to portray themselves as West Ham's saviours who can drag the poor club out of the mire. A telling comment by Sullivan last week was that what he really wanted was " to be known as the person who saved West Ham United". I get the feeling that success for West Ham is secondary. Let's face it, the worse we think things are, the more readily we'll put up with mediocrity.
If relegation really would mean armageddon then surely keeping the players and manager motivated would be essential. rather than give stability, they seem to be rocking the boat intentionally. I don't trust them at all and am not sure I'm totally convinced that the club's financial state is quite as dire as Sullivan loves to portray.
Maybe it's some masterstroke of motivation I've missed, but yesterday I thought we'd be safe - now I don't.
Well consider me a kneejerk twat and a moaner. Personally while I'm happy to wait and see, I don't think it's been an auspicious start by the new owners. From portraying our current, admittedly dire, financial state in the worst possible light in order to show themselves as knights in shinig armour, to publicly offering a player £100K a week in wages, (even if a smokescreen it won't do much for the dressing room I imagine, remember Green's comments?), to Brady's 'West Ham Olympic'. From WHU to WHO?!! However off the cuff she's not stupid and must realise the way these comments will be taken.
Considering less than 10% of people on this site actually wanted Gold and Sullivan I think the response this week has been exceptionally open minded. I hope they are great for the club and am sure they will do their best and leave the club in a better state than it is now. I'm just not going all dewy eyed because Sullivan cried on Talksport, that's all.
