i tried everything but it is still not functioning..

guys, i need help.. i have an iphone 3g with a home button which is not functioning, totally not working. the only thing that helped me as an alternative is the mquickdo.. without that, my iphone is useless. i tried to google the solution to this but i dont think it any of those would help.. anyone who knows the solution for a broken home button? i really need help because i cannot upgrade because jailbreaking needs a fully functional home button.. thanks...

sorry, i dont know much about jailbreaking and stuff so any help is appreciated sorry for my for my noob question, it might be a little annoying , I just want to make sure that everything about the 3.0 update goes smoothly. The last time I updated, was the 2.2.1, I used iTunes, download and install, and then an Itunes logo and usb appeared, I happen to know little about the iphone that time, so I had to pay someone to fix it. I just would like to ask if the same thing would happen if I click the download and install button for 3.0 update in itunes 8.2? If yes, what do I have to do next? Is having that itunes and usb logo normal? what is the best way to update to 3.0? Baseband issues no longer exist right? Sorry for a lot of questions, but I just don't want to make the same mistake again just by clicking on that update button and be stuck without an unlock.
