This was my first season watching this Challenge and I am really disappointed. Melissa is yet another in a long string of "stars" I won't watch on FN. She's another hyper-active, well-tended, white stay-at-home mom who can only talk about herself and her "inventions." I simply can't stand her, and I frequently muted her rants during the show. FN has failed at thinking creatively - and from what I read in other posts, this is a common thing on the FN. Thank goodness for Alton and Guy - at this point, they are generally all I'm willing to watch on FN and that's too bad. We are hard-core foodies in my house - we bake, garden, cook from scratch, etc. My boyfriend and I both work full time, I commute 3 hours a day, I'm a single mom of a 5th grader, and this choice of "star" is a huge let down for us. The last thing I'll watch is another home cook making chicken. At least Jeffrey had a creative idea and was knowledgeable and sophisticated. I can't wait to make his steak sandwich!
Maybe for the next season, maybe FN will get it's act together and tackle the biggest problem facing this country right now - our shameful food system and what is happening to our children and future as a result. What about taking an "Extreme" approach and turning around entire communities by focusing on building community gardens, training less-privileged neighborhoods in our country to eat properly on their tight budgets - I can see it now, "Welcome to Extreme Food Makeover, where, starting tonight, one neighborhood overcomes huge odds and corrupt corporations and doesn't eat McDonalds for a month! And, they get a garden, a gardener and and a local leader to guide them! Stay tuned, America, for Extreme Food Makeover!" Now that would be progress.
