I have a question.

I'm currently have a 3gs with newboot ...jailbreaked with spirit at 3.1.3 and unlocked.

Suppose Apple releases an updated version that updates baseband and whatnot before comex releases his jailbreak for 4.0.

That would leave me and alot of people unable to upgrade to 4.0. Any advise. Can i upgrade to 4.0 so i could backup my shsh and then downgrade back.

I would do a fresh restore. Setup Iphone as NEW.
Then re-apply Spirit. RE-Download it with IE.

I believe you have the new bootrom, so you cannot upgrade to 4.0 at the moment, since the tools release above don't support it (yet).

As of right now, you can STAY on the 3.1.3 and then
Jailbreak with Spirit, then unlock with Ultrasn0w. (Google the guides for how to do this).

Once all that is done, Google how to save your SHSH. This will allow you to downgrade back to 3.1.3 in case you accidently upgraded to 4.0 or for some other reason you need to go back.

Confusion you need to calm down, the guy never said he used Spirit. I never mentioned Spirit. Plus he said his version is 3.1.2. Does Sprit jailbreak 3.1.2? No .....calm down buddy. Whats your problem?

it is possible but not on 4.0 right now.

I'd wait a bit though. Cause you never know what clauses there will be if they release something soon.
