FORT STANWIX TAX REVOLT, Rome New York. April 15 th 4:00-6:00 pm. We were able get Fort Stanwix, an actual reconstructed colonial fort in the center of the city. It is the only fort the British never took during the revolutionary war and the first place the stars and stripes flew in battle . Rome was also home to Francis Bellamy who wrote the pledge of allegiance. The symbolism here cannot be overstated. We are going to stand with our backs to the fort, not in insult, but to protect it from the government. email donjeror@hotmail.com.
