Elliott your right he does have a strong base. The problem he faces is that he sold promises to a lot of middle of the road folk who are not part of his base and they are starting to simmer. It is not always the big things to turn off people, sometimes it is the little things. People heard him promise no earmarks, he signed a bill with 7 or 8 thousand earmarks. No lobbyist he said, he even made a rule against them but within days he is breaking his own rules. He nominates a lot of people who don't pay taxes, all these things on their own might seem little but then people remember all the little things they heard about him before the election, which they gave him a pass on. ex. rev. wright and they start to think "Mistake". People do not always think highly of someone they trusted and then feel that person sold them a bill of goods. Can he win re-election, maybe but don't buy the champaigne yet.

Thank you, you're right I did not say what party I am now, I'm Independent which is basically how I always voted, though I believed in the Ideals the Democrats used to stand for. I also believe in civil disagreement. There was a time when a believers from different parties could disagree on political issues but still be best friends.
Hope and change are nice buzzwords but it is up to the voter to look beyond the buzzwords for the substance. There was no substance behind Obamas' buzzwords, just trust me. If you met him in a used car lot most people would have walked away and not trusted him with thier money. Yet they trust him with thier country. When these same people wake up they will be furious at him but the truth is he is a glib salesman who conned his marks, they should be angrier at themselves. Voting is more then a right, it is a
responsibility...

I love the idea of the March on Washington and think it is something we need to do, but there is something else we need to do to drive our point home to the party hacks. Our congressmen and senators need to understand our concerns on a personal level and for that we should take a page out of the Democratic actions squad(acorn) playbook. We should protest in front of their homes, just like acorn did to the AIG people. Clearly we should not violate any laws but if it is okay to demonstrate in front of a private citizens home, why not public officials?? If they have people with signs in front of their homes they might decide to represent the voters instead of their party line. Any thoughts...

Maybe you heard of another guy by the name of Jimmie Carter. He is recognised as the most incompetent Presidents we have had in years. When talking about Presidents, people who lived through his Presidency just shake their heads and can't even laugh because he was that bad. Thirty years from now, if you are able to learn, you will have the same look on your face when Obamas name comes up and if we recover from him, you will pray ' please God never again'. I pray we recover from him and that we never again elect someone whose only experience is in self promotion. Maybe you notice that when he sends out ill advised feelers towards Russia or Iran they just ignore him and laugh. A new experience for Americas' Presidents. It is the most important job in the world and he is over his head and does not realise it. When asked how he likes governing he said great, he comes to it naturally. There is a big difference between telling people what to do and governing. Just so you understnd where I'm coming from, I was a lifelong Democrat until Pelosi and Obama who together have ruined a Party I was proud of.

A lot of us were idealistic, looking through rose colored glasses when we were young like you, then when we saw more of the world as it really is and we learned. What we learned is the world is a harsh place and wishing good thoughts or simply saying something is so, does not make it happen. We learned that thowing money at problems does not fix them but many times it does make them worse as corruption sets in. We learned that a lot of Politicians makes wonderful promises then quickly forget them or excuse away not fulfilling them now, but later they promise they will. Maybe next term. Sound familiar like going line by line and eliminating earmarks or keeping lobbyist out of his adminstration then granting exceptions for all the lobbyist they want.
