Agreed, Intoxicated Swimmer appeared to be the only acceptation to the sober rule as the rest of the volunteers had their wits about them and were really just concerned with his well being and getting him safely to shore.

He was swimming away from shore on purpose. And when boat rescuers were out looking for him, his calling of "Marco Polo" didn't sound like that of a man concerned with being found. He was in the water far longer than 10-15 minutes, I'm amazed and relieved he is okay considering how cold the water is..
