I am in exactly the same situation as you. I have (I think) an unjailbroken 2G phone now. I am using Mac, but have access to a PC. ANY help gratefully received!!!

I just bought an iPhone 2G which is not jailbroken and has the latest firmware and baseband as of 12/20/09. Is this going to be possible to JB and unlock so I can get it working with T-Mobile in the US? Any advice appreciated!

quick question, how do I wipe the phone of personal content (giving the phone to a friend) and still keep the jailbreak? is this possible?

Hi Dev-team. Thanks very much for ultrasn0w, brilliant piece of work! Since you won't accept donations, I have paid to a local charity in lieu.
ATTENTION Orange UK users: I wanted to pass on some info for anyone on a SIM-only Orange UK Pay Monthly tariff. If you cannot get 3G (only GPRS) after ultrasn0w, it may be because your SIM is not a 3G sim, as happened to me. I swapped it out at the Orange shop for free. The reason they gave for not giving me a 3G SIM originally was because they believed that majority of customers who have a SIM-only package have an old, non-3G phone... Someone else has remarked on this before which gave me the idea to try this route, but the original SIM was only a few weeks old, so I was surprised to here that they still routinely give out non-3G SIMs on this package! Hope this helps someone

I think you may need to re-run the process you used for pwning, either redsn0w or pwnagetool. I had the same problem, but initially it was cydia which wouldn't update. We could have hit cydia at the wrong time, but afer repwning & retrying the ultrasn0w install, everything is now working. (Thanks dev-team, much respect!)

Hi I am on orange too and have not been able to get 3G. It's a new pay monthly SIM, connects with GPRS but not 3G. This was a problem with the previous firmware and now with 3.0 (ultrasn0wed). Do you get 3G?
Cheers
