Thanks for the complements Angela... I'm excited to see what 2009 has in store for you as well. The theme is actually a reincarnation of the same theme I had on my blog about a year ago. I still have to make some tweaks though, but I'm glad I came back to it...
Thanks Nick. What about you? Did you make any resolutions this year? What about this next year?
Thanks Angela. I actually didn't plan on doing this post until I started putting together a "looking forward to 2009" post, and then realized that I should go back and see exactly what progress I made this year. Like I said, I've never been a big "resolutions" person. However, doing this whole before/after post... I'm completely sold, and hope to do something similar every year. I look forward to reading your resolutions for the next year!
You bet. I've been reading your blog for awhile now... this seemed like the perfect post to jump in and comment on. As for The Shack, I liked it. I wasn't blown away by it, like a lot of people have been. I also don't have a problem with a whole lot of the theology... in fact, how the trilogy was portrayed is exactly how I'd like to think of the trilogy interacting with each other. The chapter "Here comes 'da Judge" was by far the most powerful. It's worth reading.
In addition to a few of yours I also read, I picked up The Irresistible Revolution by Shane Claiborne to start off the year, and it set the tone for much of the rest of my reading. I also read the Shack by William Young in January before it took off and became the #1 bestseller. McLarren's Everything Must Change perfectly articulated all my current thoughts... and a fun one "American Savior" by Roland Merullo about a reincarnated Jesus running for President as an independent. It was an interesting read in a political year, with great commentary on American politics, religion, and media.
