Even if the family received the money, it won't be much by the time Loren Cook appeals the fine and has it reduced to pennies on the dollar. I work in the oil/chemical field and watch million dollar fines reduced to thousands every year. Too bad for the family and criminal by the company. Lock-out requirements have been mandatory for decades.

I am never happy when I have to spend more money than I do now for something I need to have but I assure you that if you will do the research you will find that we all enjoy some of the cheapest electricity in the US. As far as storms go, if you love the color of the trees this time of year, understand it is part of the deal. If you don't enjoy the trees and rural area I understand there are alot of vacancies in KC and St. Louis.

Milkman573 says he is writing her a letter. Save your time. I have tried to engage the Senator during this entire process. If your letter indicates you might be sympathetic to her view she will talk you senseless. As soon as she discovers you have an objection you will get canned writings and the cold shoulder. She does not care about the good people of Missouri, but instead has her sights set on power like her idols Pelosi and Clinton. Anybody who looks you in the eye and says a 1900+ page document will solve the worlds ills and provide something for nothing is either delusional or ignorant. She needs to go!

Thanks for being so sympathetic. If your employer had squandered what was yours I imagine you would be irate enough to pursue legal action which should happen here rather than tax innocents again to meet an obligation that you have already payed for. As far as the men and women not asking for their retirement to be affected, well my mother did't ask to have her retirement which my dad left to her reduced by half due to the economic meltdown. I don't know that you feel compelled to write her a check. If you do, let me know and I will give you the address to send it to. This whole tax thing stinks!

Let me get this straight. The city underfunds and misappropriates funding intended for these brave men and women. Now watching the monster get larger someone decides they can't leave it under the bed any longer. Now according to some it is our moral obligation to fix it with more taxes. I agree with readnu and gr8dogman. Legal routes should be the call of the day. We may very well have to accept the tax should it pass, but we don't have to accept the individuals responsible for such malfeasance. If we reward them for this by passing taxes without backlash we will embolden them to continue ther wrong ways.

I do not condone this man's actions however isn't it a bit ironic that a good number of the President's cabinet, quite a number of US Senators and Congressmen, as well as many prominent people have done the same things only to have it called a simple mistake or bad judgement will no legal penalty imposed on them? If they were all jailed what would we do for lawmakers?

otcclass2008 thinks we should rehabilitate this offender. I think if you shop lift or some other legal misdeed along those lines, rehabilitation attempts may be warranted. If you bust down a door, hold people hostage, rob them of something that is clearly not yours all the while holding a gun or other weapon on them to help in the strongarm robbery, the only rehabilitation you should get is deciding what scent your soap on a rope is as you avoid being violated in the prison shower.

There is a saying that “A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” I am heartbroken for the dog. I fear this sort of thing is just a sign of our times.

Horses getting stolen, cattle being rustled. Unfortunately the theft of 10 cattle takes a bit of work and probably perpetrated by someone who knows how to work cattle which makes it even worse. Almost sounds like we need to resort to the old laws for horse theives and cattle rustlers.

gr8dogman,__Help me out here my friend. You have quoted the CDC says, but I have gone through the CDC website 3 times using their search engine to get this stat and can't find it. I'm always desire facts and would like to see them.____As far as the shortage, The Flu vaccine is indentified each year by the WHO of which the CDC is a major member. The components to be included are identified by the end of February each year. It takes 6 months to "grow" the vaccine which usually makes it available by the end of August. Any disruptions to the growth process (developing the H1N1 vaccine) can obviously have ramifications. The number of doses is determined by government both nationally and internationally. Because the doses have limited shelf life and are not necessarily applicable from year to year, making 304,059,724 doses would be a waste of resources and materials and drive up costs all the more. I think everyone is doing all that they can...
