I tried this on Snow Leopard and it searched for IPSWs forever . Switched to a Leopard Mac and it worked. I think this is a bug.

I think it can be done by SHH tunneling and a Windows app called iPhone Tunneling Suite. For more info about SSH tunneling google it. Putty is a quite nice SSH client for windows.

He meant downgrading the iPhone OS, not the baseband. Anyway, if he is on AT&T it doesen't matter for him.

iPhone 2G
iPod Touch 1G
iPod Touch 2G
are OK to UPDATE
iPhone 3G
DO NOT UPDATE or you will not be able to use yellowsn0w, and hence to unlock it

Translation: They managed to extract some info from the iPod that cannot be normally extracted without jailbreaking it. So,probably, they found out a way to run their code on it. That means they are very close to the jailbreak.
