West Virginia's lawmakers and the DNR wrote a slew of something into this law, a slew of manure! Safeguards, no way!
Rimfires only? Your gun must be cased while being transported to the only place you can hunt which is an open field? No. 4 shot or smaller? Notice it's not No.4 Buck, it's No. 4 shot. What a bunch nonsense authored by a gaggle of non-hunting do-gooders. With this law in place, West Virginia's illustrious DNR and legislature have done nothing but guarantee that hunters will be chasing and searching for a multitude of inhumanely-wounded, run-off coyotes. Whatever happened to clean, effective, and immediate (humane) kills? Groundhogs often run off from 17HMR wounds. The DNR has thrown ethical hunting out the window on the basis of what someone MIGHT do; poach a deer. This is absolutely absurd as this law promotes unethical hunting methods.
Hey DNR....let these hunters use REAL centerfire, varmint rifle calibers and effective shotshell loads (No 4 Buck or T-shot) in order to effectively and humanely harvest these animals. Stop punishing law-abiding, ethical hunters and their quarry because you fail to accomplish your lawfully-mandated duty of catching poachers and prosecuting them. Ridiculous!
