Why need to go to all the trouble and money to create faculty so that they can find Chinese in China who can speak Malay for Chinese enterprises? Just advertise in Malaysia and they will find hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Chinese who can speak both fluent Malay and Chinese - either Cantonese or Mandarin. Problem solved. Simples!

Trouble is, you will probably NOT be left alone. If you go to church, or temple, you could get non-NGO or related gangsters to prey on you. If you think you would be left alone, think again!

Do you think all others who are seeking change would not want to be left alone too? Except that they know that BN and its supporters will not leave you alone.

There is only one option , and that is to take action and control of your future. Do not do it alone, but with the MASS of people in your situation, but who want CHANGE. Remember, it is STRENGTH IN NUMBERS!!!!

With such barbaric attitudes in Aceh, the province deserves to lose global support for their aspirations for independence. Independence is supposed to bring society forward, but in Aceh, it appears it would bring them backwards. I hope the Indonesian authorities, will go down heavily on these bullies in Aceh. After all, homosexuality is legalised in Indonesia between consenting adults.

I think many Scots are afraid of independence not just that they are breaking away from the "family ties" with the United Kingdom after 300 years.

They are afraid of getting ruled by someone , or a party which :

1) Suppresses freedom of speech and the Free Press
2) Has its economic plans, if any, at odds with major global financial experts, and which has claims that experts feel do not add up.
3) That practices double standards, and that only benefits its own croonies and supporters and no one else
4) Bullies opposition views with heavy hand tactics, and arresting and charging those with opposition views.
5) Creating laws that only benefits the croonies of the ruling party.

Yeah, Malaysia became independent. And you know what, a lot of the above happened to her, hasn't it? All those denial of free speech and double standards in interpretation of the law, corruptions, etc, etc. And many Scots do not want that! Malaysia may have been richer since independence, but would Malaysia not be equally as rich maybe even more rich, as it now even if it is not under independence without those hindrances? Who knows?. Look at Hong Kong, she was not economically suppressed under British Rule.

A lesson to be learn in any state or country perhaps is that it is not just independence that you should be seeking, but also that the person or party that leads the country after independence ought to be fair, able and just, and not be corrupted and suppress freedom and freedom of speech.

I agree with @burnast who said that Mahathir should blame himself for the lazinness of Malays and when you get regular handouts, why should one work hard?

If the Chinese and Indians were given hand-outs like what BN/UMNO gives to Malays, many of them would probably behave the same as well (it's only human nature)! You only need to look at some of those Indians and Chinese within BN, they also have "lazy streaks" like the "lazy Malays" Dr M is criticising, all waiting for hand-outs as if the world owes them a living.

Having said that, I do not think all Malays are lazy. Those who are smart and not lazy, they realise how corrupt and unfair BN/UMNO's policies are, and they are they ones that join with other Malaysians to support Pakatan!

Everything in life, there should be a balance - you know, Ying and Yang.

If none of us do anything and we let the authorities bully us, in the end, we will all suffer.
That includes you AND your family. Is that what you want?

What I am saying is not to ask you to take action alone - if so, that would be foolish and it would not achieve anything. What I am saying is if Malaysians of all races campaign together, then, we have STRENGTH IN NUMBERS.

If you are one of those KIASI ones, you do not deserve to be saved if the authorities get at you , because you do not care about others living around you.

The "lazy Malays" are only those UMNO croonies that feels that the world owe them a living and get lots of money practically without having to lift a finger. That's why the smart, hard-working Malays are not supporting UMNO but supporting Pakatan!

To @ModernMalaysia

No, according to the Acts of the Union (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acts_of_Union_1707), the Acts join the Kingdom of England and the Kingdom of Scotland. Wales and Northern Ireland are not considered as "Kingdoms". So if one of the two kingdoms votes to leave the union, there will be no union. So, strictly speaking, there would NOT be a United Kingdom without Scotland.

There could be a lot of uncertainties for the UK too. Even the "Union Jack" flag may need to be replaced as it is a combination of the flags Scotland, Wales and England.(Northern Ireland, interestingly enough , is not represented on the flag).

The Acting British High Commissioner seems to give you the impression that practically everyone in the UK agree with his view on Climate Change . In fact, he did not tell Malaysian readers is that many of us in the UK are extremely suspicious of this claim of Climate Change and Global Warming . The idea of Climate Changed which is supposedly caused mainly by Man has really been over-hyped, and it is actually debatable whether humans are the main culprits. Critics claim this idea of Climate Change caused by Man is mostly boyd up by many of the Climate Change scientists and the "Green" businesses, most of whom are all hitching a ride on the "Climate Change Gravy Train".

They get lots of money for "research" and expenses, wind farm constructions, etc, etc, and Joe Public would foot the bill to the tune of billions of pounds. In the UK, we get all sorts of "climate change" taxes, including the unpopular and hated Air Passenger Duty , we also have to pay extra for energy to cover for "renewable energy", pay one of highest rail and bus fares in the world as fuel is highly taxed to cover "carbon emissions", and so on. Many Brits feel all this are just excuses to wring yet more tax money out of the poor man on the street. What is more, with all these extra "Green Taxes", it made UK industries LESS COMPETITIVE in the export market. Mr Kyles , did you not tell Malaysian readers about that? You did nit? Tut-tut, how naughty of you!

For Mr Kyles to make a sweeping statement that "There is no longer any serious disagreement about the science of climate change" could not be further from the truth. There are lots and lots of serious disgreements about the science of climate change, and not just in the UK but around the world!

Even the co-founder of Green Peace, Patrick Moore has inisted that humans and not to blame for Global Warming ( see http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2569215/Humans-not-blame-global-warming-says-Greenpeace-founder-Patrick-Moore.html )

Lord Nigel Lawson, father of celebrity cook, Nigella Lawson is a keen critic against the idea of Climate Change. He even formed a think tank to look into this issue.

The cost of mitigating Climate Change goes beyond financial. It even affects the British countryside. In many parts of Britain, the beautiful country side sceneries have been badly spoilt by those horrible and expensive "wind farms". Some critics even wonder twhether it actually cost more "carbon footprint" to manufacture those ugly windmill structures than saving on carbon emissions (apart from the high financial costs of building them). Many years down the line, it may be found that this could just be a false economy, this idea of funding"Green" issues.

Whenever the weather was too hot, the Climate Change "experts" would claim it was due to Climate Change. When it was too cold, they would claim it was also due to Climate Change. If it was too wet , or too dry, you got it, Climate Change! If I remember correctly Climate Scientists even claimed that Cows Farthing (I kid you not) even contributed to Global Warming!

What I would agree is that we can all contribute and make our enviroment better, although it should not be done AT ANY COST . There has to be a balance. Some measures to protect our environment can be very cheap and easy to do. Even right now, if we collect old glass and used glass bottles, old newspapers , card boards and other things that can be recycled rather than have them thrown all over in the streets and dirty our towns, that would help in keeping our environment clean . That would not just benefit the world later, but to benefit us right NOW! Keeping our world environment clean is good - but there has to be a balance. In the West, it appears that the balance has tipped against those living in favour to those who are not. And what is more, we are not even sure what we have to "suffer" today would even help those people tomorrow!

In the meantime, Mr Kyles, here in the UK right now, we are all worrying something much more urgent than Climate Change - and it is outcome of the Scottish referendum, whether Scots will decide on 19th September if Scotland will break away from the United Kingdom. Without Scotland, the United Kingdom would be no more as it cannot even offically be called that! Think about that please Mr Kyles.

Najib: "Oi, Dr M, why did you slapped me in the face and kick me in the backside in front of everyone?"

Dr. M: "Oh, don't you know, it's because I L-U-U-R-V-E YOU SO MUCH !!!!!"

Najib: "Love me, by doing that? You are totally MAD!"

Dr. M: "Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am so pleased you recognised that now - and I had thought you were stupid! Ho-ho-ho-ho-ho."
