She's already donated the proceeds from this song to Musicares. Wounded Warriors would have been better but still not bad.

Mama Cass was an exception too and to compare Milli Vanilli to Perry is to compare fire and ice. Perry writes her own music, never lip syncs and plays guitar very competently. Again if you don't like her music or sexual tease fine but her work ethic and drive should be admired. By the way her song Firework is about each individual realizing their own potential, not a bad message.

Give people some credit. You may not like current pop music but millions do. Those that listen to Perry do so because they enjoy the song, not because of her other "assets". She writes and performs catchy tunes and you can't see her on the radio. Art and music is subjective. I studied art when I was younger and will never forget how I explained to some folks that they simply didn't understand the language of art as I had been trained, you know academically. I was young and foolish. I'm still foolish sometimes.

This article and the comments that follow are sanctimonious on so many levels I stopped counting. You may not like Katy Perry's music or the message she delivers but you should admire her success. It's the kind of story most conservatives (which I am) admire. Katy graduated high school after her sophomore year so she could devote herself to music. She dedicated herself relentlessly to her goal. Learned how to write songs, worked with other artists and producers, she learned her craft. She had many failures but in the end her determination prevailed and she became one of the biggest stars on the planet. She achieved all this because of an incredible drive most of us don't possess. Her looks don't hurt either but there are countless beautiful women trying to make it in the music industry. And if you think she isn't talented it's only because haven't seen her acoustic performances. She uses sex to sell and this is new?
Every comment about Katy Perry has been uttered about every pop and rock star. Every one. No talent, superficial, sacrilegious, train-wreck , whatever. It's pop music. Your not going to influence anybody with this kind of elitist sanctimony.
