great stuff, brian. this video to me was even better than the regular PN episodes because you put together a bunch of different ideas for us in one epsiode. i hope you get the chance to do more like this in the future - thank you for the inspiration!

"fear is excitement without the breath" - love it. can't wait to read this book.

also enjoying "how to think like da vinci" after seeing your mind map video. thanks for all the great insights!

Amen. I'm 26, and I'll take that advice to heart :)

Thanks for sharing.

Bri - I like the ideas in Flow, but I'm partial to "Overachievement" by John Eliot :)

Any plans for a TV episode on that one?

Thanks again for a great start to the day.

Sounds like you took a potential problem and turned it into opportunity. I'm inspired, thanks for sharing :)

i love it! i just ordered the da vinci book after watching your video on mind mapping. can't wait to read it and try these techniques.

i know what you mean about having tears in your eyes remembering that story...i get so excited to hear stories like this as a reminder of what's possible when people (especially kids) believe in themselves :)

looking forward to watching PN on "flow" tomorrow!

I think I cried a little when you told the story of the dogs. I tutor kids who are having trouble in math, and I can't help but see the parallels between kids who learn they can't succeed in school and the dog that learns he can't avoid the shock.

The good news is, like you say, optimism can be learned, just like helplessness. I think the world is ready for a Philosophers Notes course in every school :)

Keep up the great work!

Mike - I love this comment. I think I had the world's worst attitude as a teenager until I started reading and learning I was in control of my attitude. Amen to consistent practice!
