Glenn Beck is eminently deserving of such a high honor. It is my contention that he is an admirable human being who:

> Has the courage to speak uncomfortable truths to those around him (including authority figures)

> Achieved great success in his early radio career, 'crashed to earth' because of a vile combination of hubris and substance abuse; found a substantial loving and God-centered support-system in Tonya and Mormonism, and resurrected both a career and a family life that allowed him to attain even higher levels of success

> Served as a role model in helping me to turn my life around

> Became one of the most erudite men I know of through self-education

> Treated both the Christmas story and the Passion and Death of Jesus Christ with a fresh perspective that was both reverent and thought-provoking

> Convinced me that, even though I am not a Mormon and will never be one, that we can be 'fellow travelers' with this thing called Christianity

So I will conclude by expressing my heartiest congratulations to Glenn Beck and his family that the 'old home town' has honored him this way.
