KHSL Television in Redding, CA is reporting that the Gillette man accused of killing an 11-month old boy attempted to kill himself Sunday afternoon in his prison cell. KHSL says Christopher McDonald is in critical condition at an area hospital. We’re still waiting for an official statement from the Campbell County Coroner’s Office as to the identity of the body found near Ruth Martinson’s pickup. We wanted to let everyone know that we haven’t forgot this story (or fallen asleep on the job). It may still be another couple of hours before we receive an official identification.

Jaime Pfiefle, the daughter of missing Ruth Martinson, confirmed to Basin Radio Network this morning that the search party is meeting at Ruff’s Bar in Rozet at 9 a.m. Thursday. While there has been online chatter about this gathering since yesterday evening, we were not able to officially confirm those reports until now.

Pfiefle says the search party will be looking along Adon Road. Because of the extremely rough terrain in the area, Pfiefle says volunteers will only be able to conduct the search by horseback and ATV.

In the meantime, Pfiefle tells Basin Radio Network that they are still welcoming anyone who wants to continue the search along Echeta Road.

While we can’t confirm or disprove anything Lieutenant Brent Wasson told the newspaper, Mr. Wasson made it clear to Basin Radio Network that while the police department was not actively soliciting the public’s involvement at this time, they were not discouraging it either.
