Bono - lead singer and frontman for the Irish Band U2. He's a vocal political activist, who (apparently) tries to use some of the funds from their highly overpriced concerts to try to spread awareness about world hunger and violence. As the heneral public are not party to their financial info, how much they do actually give out is uncertain, but they certainly are vocal about the need for change.

Here's a nice example of brilliant economic spending and strong government planning...
The planned upcoming G8/G20 conference in Toronto is already estimated to cost $1 BILLION dollars for the 4 day summit. Just for security. That's pretty much TWICE the cost of security for the 21 day Olympics held in Vancouver.
Funny thing is - the theme of this particular conference is improving the global economic situation, through reduced spending and improved planning.
And this is all happening because the original plan was to hold the two conferences in and around a city (Huntsville) that was too small for the influx of people expected. So they had to quickly replan to hold both in Toronto. After sinking tens of millions into upgrading and improving both the area planned for the conference, as well as $11 million improvements to the North Bay area airport, before even deciding if the delegates would actually fly through there.
This entire two-part conference could cost Canadian taxpayers up to $2.5 BILLION dollars by the time it's all said and done.
Nice to see our tax dollars hard at work.
