As with others I am old enough to have seen Ernie playing when we got promoted in 1958 and was lucky enough to get his autograph back then on a train journey back from an away win in Cardiff. Many years later he became a friend of someone who sat in the next seat to me at Upton Park and before every game would get him a teamsheet. Sometimes my son, then 8/9 years old used to run down to get it and Ernie always gave him s mile. A true old school gentleman.

I am fully in agreement with Iain's comments.
Regarding Scott Parker I know that Spurs had one of their most experienced scouts at the game on Sunday to watch him. This is not a rumour. I know the man personally and he was sitting four seats away from me.
That is quite funny given all he saw was Scotty running up and down the touch line a few times.
It is staggering that they felt the need to send someone to the game. Surely they know what he is like by now! Anyway I am very pleased he is still a West Ham player.

Despite the sad fact that the FA Cup no longer seems to attract the fans our gate was amazing especially as where I sit in the Dr Martens I doubt there more than 10% of season ticket holders present.

It seems highly unlikely that Martin O'Neill would have been invited as a guest if he were a prospective new manager. The contractual implications if Avram Grant were sacked would be immense.

Is anyone that upset about losing Sidwell. An avarage player being courted by three average teams. If (and I know it s big if) Hitzlsperger and Collison make fitness I would prefer either of them

As for the draw at least we avoided Stevenage away!

Just an aside about the game. Are we West Ham supporters or as seems the case with the Trevor Brooking lower crowd Chelsea haters. Within two minutes of the game starting they were singing abusive songs about Chelsea, Lampard and Terry. Ok we dont like them but I thought the idea was to support OUR team not rubbish others. Then there is "stand up if you love West Ham"
Aside from the 200 Deportivo followers what were the other 14000 doing there if they didn't love West Ham. I have been loving West Ham for so long it hurts. I dont need to stand up to prove it!

Well this one might get someone going but firstly I loved Highbury. It was a traditional football ground properly designed which worked well. It reeked of history and I am delighted to have seen us win there several times including that wonderful 3-2 as the last away side to do it.
The Emirates is however a superb modern stadium with tremdous facilities and an improvement over any club ground I have ever seen. If only they had sorted out the transport links. Getting away fropm there is awful.

The Olympic Stadium site will have much better parking and underground links than the Boleyn.
It will be a modern stadium which will make the expereince of going to football better for all. I am not sure that that will bother some supporters whose behaviour now leaves much to be desired but if the game we love is to prosper in the 21st Century it cannot stand still.

It has to be a good idea (even if there are aspects to be worked on) and i am all in favour.

Anyone that heard David Sullivan on Sky Sports News just now should feel only optimism.
He is not someone who finds it easy to sound positive and yet what he said was in my view very good.

I do not think Zola will mind if Nani goes. Too much is read into them both being Italian.

As I said before we should get behind them all.

Like many I have reservations about how Gold and Sullivan made their money but we cannot influence that and what they pay for the club only affects us in relation to what they will make available for the coaches to buy and keep players.
They are Hammers fans. They have always said this.
We all were wildly optimistic after the Icelandic takeover and look how that turned out .

Gold and Sullivan wont make those mistakes. Sullivan sems to have a realistic idea about football financing and they will not be asset stripping like the Glazers and Hicks and Co.

We must put our support behind the team on the pitch and hope the owners and their team do the same behind the scenes.
