Trying to catch up here. This note is different than most of the others for me. I need to put this on my list as something I need to come back to. Being ADHD, I think I live the concepts Brian has described. These principles are what has enabled me to be relatively successful in my life despite the negative effects of ADHD. I really think my greatest natural strength is the ability to not just survive but actually thrive when I am under enormous pressure. I literally take a deep breath, reach deep inside myself and acheive almost superhuman results. My problem is this - how do I reproduce that enormous pressure so I can acheive great things all the time? Because, when not under pressure, I can be a bit of an under acheiver. Anyway, great note Brian. Thanks.

I first read this book quite a while ago and I came back to it after reading The Prayer of Jabez by Dr. Bruce Wilkinson a few years ago. The first great point really sunk in with me. I truly beleive that God wants us to have rich and fulfilling lives where we can be free to explore and also help others. Thanks Brian for reminding and reinforcing this key point. I guess Wallace B. Wattles can be considered the first to identify the "Certain Way". Napolean Hill mentioned this "Certain Way" dozens of times in Think and Grow Rich. I like other commenters was frustrated that the "Certain Way" was never really revealed as a step by step process. Nonetheless, there were great teachings in both of those books and I thought Brian did a good job of extracting some of the more useful points and presenting them in a fun and modern way. Thanks Brian.

Wow, Wow, WOW! I was looking forward to this Note and I wasn't disapointed. I was recently diagnosed with ADHD. By the way, these notes are great for people like me - they get right to the point without going on and on. I have been fortunate in my life in that I was able to develop strategies to keep the negative aspects from ruining my life and I have intuitavely used the positive aspects to acheive success (at least in the eyes of most people). I have always felt that I am wasting my life, that there should be more. Anyway, DaVinci is my hero - in my opinion, he was the most successful ADHDer in history. I was curious to know how he did it. I absolutely love the 7 principles. I am going to buy a journal right now! I am going to go and buy a copy of this book! I am going to start my journal with the 100 questions this weekend! I feel giddy - like this is what I was looking for - like I should have been doing these things all along. I am experiencing a huge epiphany! My mind is racing! Thank you Brian!

Thank you very much Brian (for creating the notes) and Vishen (for bringing the notes to the world) and the rest of the PN 50 day challenge team (for your unselfish input). Althought I had heard of the Alchemist, I haven't read it or anything else by Coelho. Thank you for the introduction! It is obvious that he has a gift for telling the story of how to live the gifted life we were all intented to live and he is sharing that gift with the world in a BIG way. I have been reflecting on "bare your scars". At first I didn't understand the significance. In the past, I would have dismissed the idea as not being important to me and moved on. Since taking up the PN 50 day challenge, I find that I am going through some kind of fundemental change. Instead of dismissing the concept, I feel the need to reflect on it and try to understand how it might apply to my life. While reflecting on this concept, I realize that ALL of the breakthrough improvements in my life came immediately after a dark moment. In fact the darker the moment, the greater the breakthrough. It makes me think that if I become more aware of the moments when I am receiving some kind of scar (even little ones).

Wow this challenge gets better and better. I especially like to read about how other members of the challenge perceive the notes and add their own little insights. Makes this experience all that much more powerful. After reading/listeneing to the notes today, I know that I need to go out and buy a copy of the book. It is obviously very, very powerful. Lots of very practical advice. I love the way that the themes of the various books criss cross and that there are some common themes developing. Be grateful, reprogram your blueprint/reset your thermostat, work on the roots and the fruits will come, Take Action, Get out of your comfort zone, Be responsible for your life. Eker puts some interesting twists on some of the more conventional wisdom and advice like using declarations vs affirmations, having negative thoughts comes with a cost, commiting vs wanting, etc. Another thought I had was that many of his nuggets were familiar to me from coaching sports - the proactive winner mindset always trumps the fear of losing, aim for the starts, action trumps inaction (according to the teams I've coached, one of my favorite phrases is "keep your feet moving!").

Wow! What an introduction to Gay Hendricks. Don't know how I've missed this author! The whole Note resonates with me but a couple of big Ahas; The hapiness thermostat. This concept explains a lot! Wow! Knowing is half the battle. This explains so much in my life, The second Aha is the quote: "Fear is excitement without breath". I remember using this technique years ago in a slightly different context. I had an inordinate fear of public speaking. I joined a toastmasters group and I remember distinctly having someone tell me that it was natural to feel butterflies but to just take a couple of big breaths and the butterflies would work to my advantage and breath excitment into my message, I still feel butterflies before I speak, but I take a couple of breaths, smile and JUST DO IT.

I can't wait to try the concepts in this book in my life. To realize that the uncomfortable feeling is due to the upper limit of my thermostat and to just smile and wave at the fear, take a couple of big breaths and JUST DO IT, ANYWAY!

Jam packed note today. Biggest take away for me today is the "Take Action". With all the talk about positive thinking, etc, etc, there is a tendency to suppress the negative issues however, I can see that this is not good.

I should have know this because I was a soldier when I was a little younger and discovered the hard way that the best way to deal with traumatic events was to talk about it to people who would understand the significance of what I had seen or done. Get it out, deal with it for what it was and move on. myself and the group I served with overseas fared better than many of my fellow soldiers that thought they were too strong to need to let it out.

There is some sound wisdom in the four step process for dealing with something that is worrying you. I am going to try to incorporate this idea into my life, going forward.

I first read this book in the mid 1990s and have reveiwed it a number of times since then. It was interesting to reveiw the main concepts and relate them to my life currently. I am amazed how many of the concepts I have internalized. For instance, I use the terms "sharpen the saw" and "first things first" on a daily basis without even thinking about where or when I first learned them. It is also interesting to review some parts of the concepts that I have not yet internalized. For instance, I don't fully live in the second quadrant. I therefore resolve to renew my commitment to spend more time doing quadrant 2 activities, especially in areas that concern my relationships with family and friends. Thank you Brian , for another awesome PhilosophersNotes.

Brian, on a technical note, the first line on the second page of my pdf is missing (I thought you would be interested in observations like this as they are easy to do and difficult to spot) Otherwise, I absolutley love the way you have done this. I love the choice, I love the format and I love the personal interpretation you add. This is truly special!
