I Agree, It is just plan rude to others to yell anything on the phone in a public setting. It's like I cant even hear my on thoughts when I'm trying to think of what I need while I'm in Wal-Mart.
I was in Egypt in 2001, it was the same for me. I think they were so interested was because they knew Moderate English, if that is the word for it, not American English
I said nothing about where he was from nor color. He stated that it was HIS language, and the fact that he told him to GO HOME. So he was Sterotyping that person. He could have been talking to his family somewhere. Who knows, no one, but the fact is it was a crude joke torward someone speaking a diff language other than his.
I agree for business, dont worry about the tangents...lol, If they hire some one and Enlish is not primary, take an English speaking test, and send that person to class or program to learn. The problem is that these companies target for the Majority of the local pop. and the more and more it becomes a bigger Majority, it grows and so on. Also, i do agree that alot of people open small business that do not want take the time to learn English, but I guess that is what most immragrants think of us these days, as lazy people who gets to enjoy the good things in life. That is for the most part what i have heard form middle easterns. They dont say LAZY, but easy life
Yes, you are right "the American culture" which is the freedom of this country and the right to happiness. I do agree that some people want to change things to how their country was, bring alittle bit of home, I guess. But that does not give us as Americans the right to be rude to people. Yes this is a free country, it is OUR country, the people's counrty, but we as people have the Adult resposibilty not to be rude and to set an example. Other countrys are not as intergrated as we are, thats the basic underlined fact. Yes if you do open a business in America, English should be the primary, unless you have a theme, Like Italian. How do you know it was Arabic, do you speak Arabic? It could have been Hebrew, Turkish, Kurdish, Indian. I dont really know how to respond to this comment. This is America (the Melting Pot). If i do remember my history right, But I could be wrong..LMAO The Native Americans where here first and that is the "real" Language of this land. We still have the values as the people did when they claimed to no longer be British. A free Capitalism counrty for immigrants (like most of our ancestors) to live in freedom, given that they legally become U.S. Citizens. That person probly knew English, and probly would have talked to you in English IF they were talking to you, but they were not.
I agree with you on this one. People fear what they do not understand. I am a retired combat wounded vet, I learned some Arabic from the locals. I did so because I was tought if you do not understand something, LEARN. And for the most part, Arabics are humble people, their extremist are not of course. Why do people think all Arabics are bad people, becuase thats what you see on the news, just the extremists, it is entertanment to them and it gets ratings. So dont judge someone before judging yourself.
