This isn't the first time Jackson has done a film about a killing that involves surreal elements. Heavenly Creatures arguably his first "success" (nominated for best screenplay oscar). I am interested to see how much it jars.

Thanks for posting this trailer up Kingmob. I had no idea that this film was coming out I love Jeunet's work (yes even Alien Resurrection to a lesser extent). City of the Lost Children is one of my favorite weird arse films since high school.

I have now seen this amazing film. It's been a long time since I went to the cinemas and wanted to go straight back in and watch a movie again. While I agree the story is a little thin on the ground, I really didn't care as I loved the world that Cameron gave to us. The digital effects are gobstoppingly good and I never got the uncanny valley. The biggest thought I got afterwards and somewhat during was "I want this as a tv show". This was because I wanted to explore the world more. Similar thoughts have crossed my mind for Star Wars (which is coming soon) and Chronicles of Riddick. What can I say but I am a sucker for good world building.

I loved American McGee's Alice. I wished the film actually got finished. Over all the story is now so boring that I don't think I could be arse watching any of them (except McGee).

Umm, it translates well because it isn't culture dependent. A funeral, relations and things going wrong. The only places this wouldn't translate well is non-christian funerals.

Well I unfortunately foresee this actually being some what of a hit. The script seems very similar to the original if the trailer is to go by. It has all the names it needs to pull an audience in USA. The biggest problem with the trailer is that it gives away to punchline of the whole film. While I think it is stupid to remake the film, I can also see why they are doing it. It would have been a fairly cheap licence and lets face it, it translates well.
