Anilia -

Much needed encouragement today! I appreciate it. I have been stewing for a long time on this topic and then finally felt moved to write. I desperately want to make changes, I just have not found whatever it is that motivates me. It is said that change can only happen through crisis. I read this on a blog recently: "unlikely it is that any one of us will ever change very much if we keep doing things the same way and thinking the same thoughts which lead to the same emotions, like an endless, boring cycle in our brains." I don't want to wait for a crisis. We fail, we fall, we get up. Then we repeat the cycle. But when does change happen? I suppose I am contributing something to myself, but I don't know what. Maybe we should tackle this idea in a series and see what comes of it. I'd love to have your input, or a guest post. ") Love to you. You inspire me.

Rob - I think you are right. It's so good of you to drop by to say it, too. I've been having an especially hard time dealing with this situation. But in the end, as a friend, you should try to challenge people to be better, which is what I was trying to do. I just hope that one day, I will get over it. Thanks so much, Rob!

Anilia - so sorry that it took me so long to reply. I don't think that I have done such a great job choosing friends, I have just felt grateful to have any friends at all. That's low self-esteem and I'm working on that! I make friends slowly and generally keep them for a long time. This situation has really taken me by surprise. But this is true: "I want you to tell me when my draws stank b/c I'm gonna tell you and not leave you out there."

Thanks, Cate. Yes, I do know why we broke up - the drama that she was going through was reminiscent of things that I had already been through in life. I didn't really have the tolerance for it. So, I think she did what she needed to do and I think that she did it as gracefully as possible. Being dumped is never easy--especially when it's a friend. I actually just broke up with another friend today, after a 6 year friendship. It's sad. Then again, it has purpose as well.
