Yes. Believe me, I am not a fan of NCLB!! A friend of mine was just telling me about a friend who was fresh out of college and had just gotten a teaching job. She was so excited, and got her room all set up, and couldn't wait to start. Just a couple of weeks in, she is discouraged and ready to quit because she realized she really couldn't do any of the things she actually *wanted* to do with the students because of the need to "teach to the test." Very, very sad... for students and teachers both.

Agreed. I also think that debt is like anything else that separates from God, in that if we recognize it and make continual steps to change it, that God is no longer angry, but forgiving and happy that we are making better choices. I can't go back in time and not accrue the debt, and I can't make it magically disappear, but I CAN learn from it and pay it off and make the daily decision to do better.

I'm glad that you can relate, but sorry that you can relate, all at the same time!

Great points! Buying real, whole food is a priority for me as well, and I am very thankful for our local health food store that has great prices (because I'm even weirder about Whole Foods than I am about Starbucks. ;-))

<<I also find myself getting ANGRY (irrationally) at them when someone invites me/us to do something socially that costs money!!!>>

I am SO glad you said this, because I struggle with that exact thing as well! Really, my money issues are numerous. I hate that I do it, and am forever asking myself "What is WRONG with me?" It is just such a frustrating thing to be in debt, and there are times that I feel it's taken over my head and my life. :( I know all I can do is take it one day at a time, be thankful for all that we have, and not worry about what anyone else is doing.

<<I have seen too many hard working families lose everything right now, not so much because they were irresponsible with their money, but because life happens. It is unfortunate, troubling, and sad. >> Absolutely. We have been on the receiving end of that "life happens" ourselves, most recently a few years ago when we lost a huge chunk of salary due to furloughs to avoid a lay-off. I try not to make assumptions because I know that I don't know everyone's individual circumstances. What is hard for me is when it is NOT because of unfortunate circumstances, but poor choices. I'm working on it. :)

Interesting perspective. There is probably an element of envy on my part as well. As well as frustration and regret and self-flagallation for getting into debt in the first place. Lots of feelings to work through, for sure. :-/
