While no linguist, as a young man I was quite familiar with the Pennsylvania Dutch (Deutsch) speaking farmers in my own home area of Berks County, PA.
Yiddish-speaking Jewish peddlers would effectively converse with these same farmers and their wives, selling off their trucks hardware items, canning jars, cooking utensils, shoes and boots, house dresses, etc.
There is a surprising commonality between these two tongues, both of which are certain to be lost within the coming one or two generations.
And they will be lost as was the Gaelic Language spoken by my Irish grandmother.
Is tradition no longer of any importance to us?
It is not bad enough that so many of our youth have little idea of where they are headed...the day is coming when they will not even know where they came from.

In the event this abuse is, indeed, two years running and reported repeatedly by the parents it is beyond an outrage.
The bullying of Jewish children was exactly the sort of thing that was egged-on, condoned, or ignored by Nazi Party members whom held positions within the German school system during those final years of the Weimar Republic.

Apparently the Civil Administration wanted to get this in under the wire at least 5 days before the talks resume on August 14. Nevertheless, it is not at all helpful.
Imagine that one is having a dispute with your neighbor over property lines and you need to begin the following week to discuss the working out of a resolution. Five days prior to the meeting this same neighbor starts preparing to build a garage for his car on what you hope to claim as part of your property.
This nonsense is truly getting tiresome and is only risking the goodwill of Secretary John Kerry, the U.S. Administration and millions of Americans, to say nothing of many Israelis whom have never supported these encroachments into the West Bank territories.
The Defense Ministry gave no reason at all while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu refused further comment.
Wonderful...just who in hell is running things in Israel?

I was never even remotely familiar with a suicide bombing case but as a former police officer I have witnessed or heard from other officers of those whom have committed the most bizarre acts, a few of which were well beyond anyone's comprehension.
Who is fully prepared to explore the maze of distorted logic that may exist within the dark side of the human mind? Even a highly trained and well practiced doctor of psychiatry may be confined to no more than what might be termed as "skilled guess work."
Should this film be shown in the States I'm likely to pass on it.

American Jews are writing off Israel? Not me and I'm not even Jewish.
No worry...before the haredi achieve total political hegemony they will alarm the still dominate secular Israelis into a massive back-lash that will put a quick end to what otherwise become a fanatical rush toward national suicide.
Generations of loyal Israelis will not stand watch while these zealots are allowed to destroy their nation.

One feels like standing up for the protesters yet I can still remember how the Palestinians were dancing in the streets when our trade center buildings were taken down in 2001. Hard to get this out of your craw.
