I'm so deeply nostalgic nowadays. I actually assume I'm just having an active mid life crisis, but that's for another day's analyzation.
I'm sentimental over the lack of analog; the simple joy of receiving a small toy or a cassette and being completely satisfied. I miss collectively sharing physical music, watching almost any movie at the theater just because we were bored. I miss looking forward to a weekly tv show and not having to read ten think pieces or yell about it on the internet. I miss slow news, carefully curated and distilled via magazines and long news op-eds. I miss having time to process info.
I'm wistful for flirty butterflies, the first dates with my wife, the dreaming of a future life. Everything is great now, but I do look back on those times with a warm funny feeling and think "what absolute incredible luck that we got here."
But I'm most nostalgic for happy ignorance. When I didn't fully grasp all my family's drama. When I didn't fully know how cruel and corrupt the world could be.
