This is how to make them evil:

First - make the kids believe they are the center of the universe, the light of everyone's life and they can never do any wrong. Spoil them.

Second, be so litigious that anyone in authority be afraid to defend themselves or exert any authority. Essentially take it away.

Third, let the kids find out the above.

Then, let nature take its course....

Maybe it's the engineer in me, but I don't understand the "surprise" part of it. Isn't pregnancy the desired outcome of implanting embryos?

If the both of the women were pregnant without implanting embryos, THAT would be the mother of all surprises. Ol' Brian would have some 'splainin to do.
