Tsk. Playing that song was uncool and Questlove's apology was lame. Shame.

What do you mean? You have Limbaugh and formerly Beck, two very, very funny comedians, who eviscerate Obama all the time. Those two are hilarious; nobody can compete with them. Oh, wait, I forgot about Ann Coulter. She's actually my favorite; too bad she doesn't have her own show instead of just making guest appearances on Bill Maher and Hannity. She emits knee-slapping commentary all the time.

Sure, you saw hundreds of teachers in Wisconsin, but that's because that's where the protest was occurring against Walker. You'd expect to see teachers at a protest regarding having benefits taken away from their profession (and I'm not saying it's right or wrong about the benefits - I'm just saying, you'd expect people who don't like having benefits taken away, to go and support themselves at a rally). There are hundreds of thousands of teachers, though, that you didn't see.

BTW, you are a great example of why our educators need to be paid appropriately for educating, shaping and preparing our youth - the ones who will be responsible for keeping America the great country that it is. It is one of the most important fields that needs more resources to attract the cream of the crop instead of the bottom of the barrel teachers that you must have had. Your teachers must have been paid peanuts so didn't care that his/her students didn't learn proper punctuation and grammar.

The system itself is broken and needs reform. Kick out teachers who are bad, but gosh darn it, you need a good salary to attract the kind of people who would get the job done. I would never have gone into teaching because the pay is such crap. A lot of other folks who would be fantastic teachers, aren't, also because of crappy pay.

And another BTW - let this serve as a reminder to you not to forget to take your medication.

You're welcome.

I disagree that they are not noble professions. There are great, great teachers out there - please don't torch them all because you've seen a few vocal ones making their cases.

And to say that those who risk their lives for us are not noble - that's just crazy talk, my friend. How many of the people you work with give their lives trying to save others?

He does a Ford spot for one of our Hawaii dealers, wearing a University of Hawaii aloha shirt. Mike Rowe's my favorite (lame "Elf" joke).

I love Mike Rowe. Yup, he's handsome and has a great, radio-worthy voice, and his show is so interesting and, indeed, like Nolte says, shows a great deal of respect for those workers who do the kinds of jobs most of us would turn our noses up at. But those jobs need to be done, and those workers perform a great service for us, and we should admire them instead of wrinkling our noses at them.

His post offers a very thoughtful, intelligent, rational view of what is going on in our country. While I may not agree with many Republican viewpoints, Mike's reasoned presentation of his views would make a lot more Democrats give pause to their own rhetoric and re-think why Republicans want what they want.

I wish more people would be this calm and rational in presenting their opinions - on both sides. So much more could be accomplished if we didn't butt heads so much; but instead, actively listen to one another and participate in civilized discourse (I'm starting to hate that term, but its meaning is apt).

Bravo, Mike.

I remember seeing trailers for Falling Skies, but haven't caught any episodes. The trailers looked really interesting...my kinda stuff. I'll have to see if it's still on, and where and when.

I'll have to take another look at this movie. I started watching it once, but it seemed too amateurish to me and I cut it off about 1/3 of the way through. And believe me, I like some amateurish/low budget movies. My all time favorite zombie movie is the original "Night of the Living Dead." Second favorite is "Day of the Dead." I remember watching "Night of the Living Dead" on a Friday night "Creature Feature" as a little girl. All by myself. Yes, I had a deadbeat dad. It scared the living heck out of me and created a lifelong zombie fighter. I've moved a lot. It's been tough having to re-zombie proof all the time.

Don't forget the two guys are sheriffs. They are not trained as thoroughly as police or other law enforcement are (as my cop friends like to point out).
