What a fantastic idea. I love your servant heart. Thanks for all that you're doing! You've motivated me to take steps for setting up a similar program with some younger guys I have been praying for.

Great post. I've always liked John 17:20-23 where Jesus is praying for future believers. To me it's a good model for praying for oneness and unity which to me implies spiritual growth.

"My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."

This is such a good reminder. We all fall into this mindset at times. You've got a big life change happening for your entire family. I would submit that anybody going through this would feel nervous and stressed at times...it is normal. Remember the reality check of WHY you're doing it and the vision you have. We know based on experience that God will handle the details if we're faithful along the journey. Stay strong.

This post really spoke to me too, so my comment is self-directed as well!

Great post. I once heard someone ask the question "Want to know God's will for your life?" Answer: "Find one place He is working and just jump in".

Great post Jay. Hypocrisy is such an issue with Christians that non-Christians just see a leader falling as another "I told you so" type of moment.

I agree that this event doesn't give the cause of Christ a black eye. Romans 3:23 says it so eloquently. What does give the cause of Christ a black eye? How about not helping your neighbor? Ignoring the poor and hurting? Being apathetic to the world around you and completely focused on your own self? I think those are things that would give Jesus a black eye just as well.

It sucks when a leader falls. But as you say: "surprised? No."

Jay, I agree 100% with you. Great post. One area I've seen people struggle with priorities is putting kids above the spouse. That's a big danger sign that could lead to some marital issues. Also, how easy it is to put family behind other things we deem as "important".

When you break down the week like you did it's amazing to see just how much time gets chewed up.
