every time i hear of one of these mass shootings, the first thing i think of is what would have happened differently if any one law abiding citizen had a weapon to use. these gun free zones around the country make me nervous, i don't like being any place where i am not "allowed" t o protect myself.
you forget, manners, respect, human love and responsibility are all attributes that should be taught by parents, not schools. discipline is being abandoned simply because parents don't allow it anymore. it used to be if i were disrespectful to an adult in school, i would be punished there and than again at home. it didn't take long to learn my lesson. we don't have that anymore. with daily lawsuits and such. there is always some biddy calling the cops when a parent disciplines a kid in public. parents are going to jail for disciplining their children. so now who has the power. the children think they can do anything. i had my own 14 year old tell me i couldn't discipline him or he would tell his teachers what i did. i handed him the phone and told him to skip the middleman and call the police directly. i also told him he would never live in my house again. he wouldn't make the call and he never pulled that crap again. now i understand there is a difference between ABUSE and DISCIPLINE. i only talk of discipline. abuse is a whole different story.
i think you are right. complacency and apathy are at epidemic proportions right now. the only way 'we the people" are going to take back our country is for new non-political blood to run for office and for "we the people" to recognize that the new blood is required to move forward. we have to stop thinking that we can't do anything. we have to start doing whatever it takes.
boy do I agree with you 100%!
