Ooo, thanks Robin! I will keep that in mind. But since my webhost claims to "support" RoR, I'm hoping it won't be a big issue. On the other hand, *nothing is ever simple*, and it's good to have options!

Liz, thanks for checking out my blog! You certainly took your trip across the country seriously - glad you made it safely. I know a lot of great people in the SF area, and now I can add you to the list. If you'll be there for a while, let's get together the next time I'm there!

Sorry to hear about your problems - they sound much more extreme than mine. I only had trouble getting Ubuntu to work properly - within Window Vista, the wireless and everything else worked as advertised. (That is, slowly, but without issue.) I hope that you can get HP to fix the problem. If not, I suggest writing to the Better Business Bureau. I've always had good luck getting action from companies after getting the BBB involved. But make sure you give HP a chance to fix the problem (again) before contacting the BBB.

Oh, no! Not that grant - the above is about a little tiny grant that I applied for individually. Luckily, the BIG grant that I am working on is administered by people who know what research is (as far as I know)!
