So the three member panel of the Parole Board are truly confident this man is safe to be released to the public.
If he commits a further crime, then *they* should also go to prison.

Hahahaha, this "Leon Brown" forecaster tweeted on 11 April that we're going to experience Artic weather. This morning he's revised the forecast to "a washout".
I think the dude only forecasts extreme weather just to get his name in the papers that are willing to publish this rubbish to its readers.

She has been to the courts recently, for a very serious offence. http://www.u.tv/News/Attacked-by-partner-in-inten...
Its obviously taught her nothing, and I hold the judge of that case Barney McElholm personally responsible for the trouble she causes now.

When I saw the video yesterday evening by McCallion, I too was shocked and saddened that our police service would do this. And also that people would walk past.
However, tonight's BBC newline includes cctv footage of the entire incident, and that puts a completely different perspective on it. The lady was not unconscious, or incapable of walking. It seems she merely took a tantrum that her partner was being taken away by the police.
Still, the police officers should still have left her on the pavement, but its not as bad as what it initially seemed.

A few years ago, I encountered an unconscious person lying in the street. I stopped the car, rang 999 and followed their instructions until the ambulance arrived. Yes, the person was a drunk, yes its a terrible waste of medical resources and a complete drain on our society, but they're still a person, and they may be going through a bad patch in life. Perhaps their bad patch is something that I couldnt even handle. They can just handle it with drink. How would you cope if your world fell apart - spouse left you, kids taken away, lost job, house, car, friends, and was addicted to something you hated but also craved. Could you cope?

The problem isn't under 18s buying alcohol in shops or pubs. The problem is created by older siblings/friends giving it to the younger ones, or the kids stealing it from the household.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that the drinking age should be lowered. Under 18s should be allowed a limited supply of low strength alcohol - just like in the Netherlands, but only when bought in pubs, not supermarkets.

This would encourage the beleaguered pub trade and get the kids off the streets. I'd much rather my child have a couple of beers in a friendly social environment like a pub, than drinking vodka down an alleyway or out at a remote golf course (e.g. Strabane last night) where if they do become ill, nobody sensible is there to notice.

Yes, Europe has a lot more to lose than the US.
It would be nice if you wrote the article from a European viewpoint instead of an American.
