I meal plan two weeks in advance (I go food shopping every Friday, but I plan on the Sunday before) and this week we had
8/30 = homemade pizza
8/31 = taco night
9/1 = leftovers
9/2 = leftovers
9/3 = garlic-ginger chicken & rice (plus enough leftover chicken to send for lunches)
9/4 = veggies bolognese & pasta
9/5 = frozen crabcakes (prepared), pasta & sauce
9/6 = pork loin, carrots, potatoes, string beans (extra pork for lunches)
9/7 = chili - made double to freeze/lunches, also made three dishes of mac & cheese "casserole" - ate one, two are frozen
9/8 = meat bolognese to freeze, chipotle corn & blackbean stew to eat (from vegan with a vengeance)
9/9 = potpie - make an extra to freeze (yes, I am stocking up on frozen meals for days I am not here to cook)
9/10 = chili leftovers
9/11 = knishes (vegan book), hummus
9/12 = veggie burgers, salad
9/13 = leftovers
9/14 = my sons birthday - we're ordering in as requested, but I am making the cake :-)
Not to give the impression this always works - a few of those nights other foods were planned, some weeks I just can't get on the ball and we order in, etc.. but I try my best to follow it. It works about 90% of the time.
