I have 3 iPhones here, all with fully functional firmware 3.0 and NONE of them are a member of the dev. plan.

I couldn't reply to your post directly. are you using any 3G iPhone on 3.0?
If so can you PLEASE post step by step, very clear instructions here!!

I got my 3G to downgrade after I installed 3.0

It wouldn't activate as my UUID wasn't with Apple
