I think its hard to equate a virtual rape with a real life rape, but its weird that these worlds even made rape possible, regardless of how realistic they hope to make the worlds.
Yea, like the other posters suggested, this speech should not be censored regardless of how wrong it is. But we have luckily become used to freedom of speech and expression that citizens of other nations have never experienced, and our laws should not be upheld everywhere.
This is kind of like the vatican copyrighting its speeches, its acceptable in a legal sense, but just doesn't seem morally right. While I have defended this in my post above as being okay if they choose to use the profits for their charity, it seems like something that was never meant to be protected.
I think I agree with you that it would be appropriate to compare a cyborg to a clone. Its very difficult to treat either the same as humans, because they are not humans, and this could lead to significant issues in the future, but thy are definitely two futuristic groups that we won't have to consider for years, but could be treated under the same rules.
I don't think they would need a warrant, they could just tell us that we have the choice not to go through the machines, but we better be prepared to drive.
why not? I mean they are trying to make it representative of the time, and this is something to put in their game. There should certainly not be a law preventing it, as there is nothing that indicates that having this in the game is unprotected speech or action.
Yea. what makes this tough is the fact that one change creates a new patent, or so I believe, and this makes things extremely difficult to control. Companies can hold off on making changes until it most benefits them. Like you said, things have certainly strayed away from the true purpose of patents.
People will still die with cryogenics, but if there was a way to unfreeze people all at once, there certainly could be population issues, and other unforeseen issues that would arise.
4'33 was a performance and it utilized silence, while having an orchestra sitting on the stage with their instruments. While it is silence in no sounds being made by the performers, its utilization of the silence to induce sounds from the audience is different from basic silence. If you were to do a performance that utilized an element of silence would you be opposed to its copyright protection?
I agree, I mean this is not an original idea, and I wonder what the instructor who taught him this yoga technique would think about his attempt to copyright the technique.
