The fact that they thought that one fan news blog is tantamount to "taking over a whole fandom" speaks volumes.

One could assume that they were projecting their insecurities... but it's more likely that they just didn't want "gross men" to like what they like.

My condolences to your falling out with him.
I personally can't stand that guy.

I recall him being a chill tumblr dude on par with the cooler-headed fandom members for while... until all sorts of people started throwing tantrums over JJ and his silly webcomic, then he decided to become one of those holier-than-thou "MLP fans" and began to shit on people with different tastes and opinions, being quick to label them as some very nasty things that really didn't fit the "crime" they committed.

Both genders have their issues. Yes, it may happen more often to women than men, but playing down or shit talking either side does NOT help anyone with anything.
Personally, I feel that is part of the reason why "MRA" people exist in the first place, because they feel that feminism or feminists do not help the male sex with their sexual inequality issues, such as adoption and parental proceedings, comparative jail time, female-on-male rape, and circumcision.
