That's a good point, Gary. However, I think the short-term goal should be to increase integration with Facebook, not to cripple Instagram's growth.

By the way, there are a few third-party desktop browser applications for Instagram. http://statigr.am/ is my curent favorite.

I know it's probably not the popular thing to do, but I use Instagram mainly as a springboard to post to other networks (Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare). With location data and support for hashtags and @ mentions, Instagram really has everything it needs to be an all-in-one social network, yet a few obstacles hamper its growth, the lack of a proper portal to navigate it on the desktop being one of the main reasons.

Not surprised here, the folks at Panera do have a heart. The one close to home donates bread and treats every week for our church. I can attest they do things like this often, not artificially to gain attention online. Good for them.

Absolutely, Gary. I think NBC did a fair enough job. I only wish they had done more event reporting, and less story construction, although I completely understand they're going to go towards what sells and can't be blamed too much for it.
