Shahin, it all happened the day Shah said to the US that they do not need them around any more now that Iran is militarily self-sufficient. Nixon sold all the arms, and Carter called Iran "an island of stability". The US military industrial complex suffered badly when USSR dissolved, and they need the Ayatollahs' fear to keep the military industry in business.
The price of oil went up from $1 to $8, but the British goverrnment taxes went even higher. It is like the Tobacco tax.
And of course ask any Iranian, and they will tell that the British, especially the BBC was responsible. For sure we know that every night the Communists in Iran would send their agenda for strikes to the BBC and it would get broadcasted in Persian. The Ayatollah was sanctified by the BBC. At that time the radical chic in Britain like Dilip Hiro were seen to be the enlightened ones. The view that democracy is the be and end all of all sociological ills was paramount. So it was a tool to be used by Iranians to be suckered to throw the very culture of Iran out, just like the baby with the bath water. Sure Khomeini came, but that meant change the name of Iran to be the same as Pakistan, as in Islamic Republic of Iran. Then change the flag, and the national anthem, to name a few. This wiping out of Iranian culture was seen to be the first objective of the Islamic regime, and they are still trying to do it.. Of course none of this is being reported even now. More importantly the British were the first to accept the Ayatollah as legitimate representatives of Iranian, even though Iranians were being killed for being Iranian more than Islamic. The holocaust on the Iranian population continues, and no one mentions it.

All we need in Iran, like any other country, is someone that puts culture first. The Ayatollahs do not care for Iran. They have their own agenda, and it is mostly anti-something. The Ayatollahs want to wipe out Iranian culture. It is that simple.
The regime in Iran is not there because the people of Iran love them. It is there because it pretends to be anti-US and anti-Israel. It is neither. It is a military machine, and like its counterparts in US and other parts of the world, it has to exist. What I am saying is nothing new, but it is true. The US and Israel and the Saudis military, love to have a reason to make money from expanding their industries, and the Ayatollahs want the same. They all help each other to stay in power. They are not interested in the social welfare of the people via the peace dividend.
But please help us in one cause. Giving the Ayatollahs the respect that belongs to Iranians is wrong. Do no refer to them as Iranians. In fact the Ayatollahs will tell you they do not like Iran. They want an Islamic state of their own. Refer to them as Iranian regime. They should build one for them in the Shiite area of Iraq. Once they all go there, all our problems will be over. Simple.
