As you mentioned forecasting is quire risky endeavor.

From one side it can only look like complicated but it is not. Just if you simply try it couple times, you will see that it is very simple indeed. The project we do - Youtego has been developed step by step using technique like this. And we will a lot.
Finally complicatedness is not big problem when you talk about something you are professional.
