this very same thing is happening to me. using windows version. running as admin, phone in DFU but i get the unexpected error message and cannot proceed. any help would be great if you come across a solution.

plug phone in, open itunes, make sure everything you want is checked, i.e apps, music, photos etc. then hit sync, bottom right, sure you know that part.
