You must be confused or are you talking about liberals like Barney Frank who blocked more regulation of Fannie and Fannie when the crisis might have been avoided?
The federal government helped create the mortgage debacle through lower lending standards, cheap money, and lenders who were protection from risk by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Both parties used cheap money to prop up the economy, but Fannie and Freddie and the sub prime debacle were creations of the Democrats and careless lenders.
The mortgage crisis and the housing bubble were key causes of the current financial crisis and the problem has not been solved, in spite $145 billion from the federal treasury. To paraphrase economist Dr. Thomas Sowell, the ones most at fault in the crisis have benefited from it. He was talking about the Democrats.
There is political corruption everywhere, from using the federal treasury (the stimulus bill) for liberal social causes to the use of police resources for lawless unions mobs. We have lost so many liberties and the radicals have consolidate too much power in Washington. If we continue down this road we will be a third world country because the radicals really do not know what made this country great.
The bailouts in Greece and the stimulus in the U.S. are a big waste of money and a corrupt use of the federal treasury, especially when nothing is done to correct the fundamental problem . . . irresponsible spending by governments at all levels.
It is really not journalism anymore. For the most part they are political operatives spouting dishonest political rhetoric. What is happening to them is happening to the entire private sector. This administration and this Congress are destroying democracy and destroying the private sector (which pays the taxes). They care more about partisan politics than the fate of the country. Let the media fail and vote the bums out.
Journalists, just like many academic types, have been sheltered from the real world. They are reporting on things they don’t know and do not understand. They cannot see their own lack of objectivity. Hence, there is no need for journalism as it exists today, and we don’t need great numbers of commentators and editorial writers.
If you looked at his past behavior and associations it should be no surprise that President Obama is an extreme radical. He has not shown any interest in stimulating the economy. He never intended to: eliminate earmarks, spend wisely, cut taxes, reform government, and act in a bipartisan manner. Instead he has taken advantage of the recession to fund Democratic Party special interests, destroy capitalism, create more dependency on government, and redistributing wealth for his distorted view of justice. Now we have uncontrolled spending and debt that will be a burden on future generations and will likely cause hyperinflation similar to that of the Carter administration.
Speaking of lack of ethics, Secretary of State Clinton, like several other Obama appointees, cheated on her taxes when she improperly claimed interest deductions in the White Water affair (She paid the back taxes when it was discovered by the White Water investigation).
