What an excellent idea! Watts, being a decent indicator of power consumption, is really not very useful for the kind of lighting technologies we have today - infact the lower the better, for most people. Having an indication of brightness, however, makes much more sense.

Very interesting, although not an entirely unique or earth-shattering concept. Solar-powered UAVs have been in the pipeline for many years, the best recent example of which is the QinetiQ Zephyr. Adding a pilot is not such a huge achievement, but certainly still deserves merit.
