The media is making a bigger issue out of this whole story than it really is. All Fairview wants to do is try and figure out a schedule where any extracurricular activitiy can use the field with lights. Any coach, director, staff member would want to give that opportunity to their students. It is definitely a great step forward that Fairview took by getting those lights. Why is it okay for Boulder High to have lights but not for Fairview? All the district wants to do is give more opportunities for students at Fairview. Isn't that the point of school? These lights were not just erected for the band but also for soccer, football, and other sports not stated in this article. All activities want time on this field with lights, so obviously there would be some scheduling conflicts. It is simply impossible for students to change their entire schedule around during the months of September and October because of parents' jobs, as well as other activities that they participate in. This is the same case with any other extracurricular activity. This is why they are trying to solve this schedule conflict. Every extracurricular activity deserves equal amount of time on the field whether football, band, soccer, etc.
