I've never defended Joe Kennedy. And you've brought in a straw man argument. Typical of many who can't defend something that's been said. What has Joe Kennedy got to do with whether or not the Bush family is corrupt? The Bush's are most likely the most corrupt political family in American history. And their dunce of a son linked up with pure evil like Cheney, Rumsfeld, Yoo, et. al. Bush was stupid, so the others took over. I've met George Bush. He's dumb as dirt.

The family has enormously influenced politics. We've come off eight years of that influence. You do no that SS (as in the Nazi SS) translates as "Homeland Security", don't you? Remember Bush I's "New World Order." Read some translations of Hitler's speech about the New World Order.

Look at the fascism of the Republican Right. Much of the Patriot Act is fascist. That's how it's relevant. The Bush family has a history of fascism.

Comparing Soros with Hitler? Well, why not compare the Bush family, too? Remember that little incident during World War II (1942) when Senator Prescott Bush (George W's grandfather, George H.W.'s father) had various of his companies confiscated by an Act of Congress for trading with the enemy. It was these companies that actually helped Hitler's rise to power. Yes, folks, the Bush family money helped people gain power, and while we were at war with Hitler the Bush family was supporting Hitler financially. That's actually treason, but he got a pass on that because he was a U.S. Senator. What kind of logic is that? He should have been tried for treason.

Rhetorically you are bringing in a strawman argument. I don't know the history of Brown University, but that has nothing to do with the current discussion. Just because Brown founders were bad, makes it all right to honor Columbus? You aren't making logical sense. It may well be the Brown founders were slaveholders. It might well be the university name should be changed. But, that has absolutely nothing to do with a discussion about whether or not Columbus should be honored.

Why are you so upset that people are pointing out the truth about Columbus? Get over the inaccurate history you were taught when you were a child. Why would you want to defend someone who committed genocide? He did not discover America. He never thought he had discovered a new world.

Columbus did not set out to find this land. He was looking for a trade route to India for spices. Most of the year people (the rich) essentially ate rotten meat. So, they had to spice it up to make it palatable.

Your comments about Pocahontas are also inaccurate.

Read the history of Columbus. People aren't "villainizing" him. That would seem to indicate they are telling untruths about him. But, the untruths were in building him up in the first place. People want accuracy. He did bad things. He killed a lot of people. He wasn't a nice guy. Why honor him? Forget what you were taught in school. Research the historical accuracy of Columbus, instead. You were taught a fairy tale.

It is not tearing down Columbus to report accurately what he did. Why do you want to build up someone who perpetrated genocide? Just because you were taught a fairy tale in school? Again, he wasn't a nice guy.

The students and faculty at Brown are correct. Columbus was not the hero we were taught in earlier history books. More recent history books are more truthful about him.

This has nothing to do with political correctness, and everything to do with historical accuracy.

You can check out my video about Columbus (which is historically accurate) on youtube at:

If the video seems to run too quickly for you to read the information, hit the pause/play button to stop it temporarily while you read. Then hit the pause/play button to start it up again.

Columbus did not discover America. The Vikings had settlements here (actually in North America) hundreds of years before. Columbus never even set foot on United States soil. He died thinking he had found a better trade route to India (hence First Nation people are called Indians).

Columbus engaged in genocide against the populations where he landed.

I urge everyone to research history and not rely on the inaccuracies you were taught years ago. There were lots of inaccurate stories in those history texts. My video above is a good starting place.
