personally have no problems with gay people, nor have I ever been uncomfortable when around gay men. I’ve worked in close proximity to gay guys and always have a blast with them. Honestly they’re a ton of fun .. more so than most other co-workers. So if I were to find out that a roommate of mine was gay, I’d probably look at it like I did co-workers and just assume we’d have a bunch of good laughs together. But then I think about how work and living is different. In a small dorm room where there isn’t much privacy, I could see how it could be slightly awkward at times. Just like it would be awkward living in close proximity with a straight girl I didn’t know. I’d like kinda assume they’d want to get it on because I’m such a fine specimen of a man, but in all reality that’s not the case. Living with a gay guy, he’d obviously know I wasn’t gay and therefore lose interest..and I’m cool with anyone taking a gander at my bod. So as long as he was comfortable watching me bring mad girls back and do the dirty, then I’d have to give him equal respect when he brought back some dude to poke. I definitely wouldn’t try to catch peeks of his conquest like I would if it was a girl….but that’s what noise canceling headphones are for. And the upside to having a gay roommate is that they’re usually really cool with almost anything..super tolerant and non judgmental. So like we could smoke and play nutball and make fun of dumb people out of our window. It would be fun. Haha
Soo, if he waited until half the semester to come out to me.. that might make me a bit uneasy at the precise moment he told me. Cuz I’d be like going back over all my memories of being butt ass naked in front of him, or wondering if that was why I could never remember nights out even when I only had a few beers and then my ass hurting the next day. Haha but seriously, bro rape happens and should be taken slightly serious for a few minutes. Anywho, umm yeah I’d be cool with it and try to just move on from that point. Maybe play wing man for him if he’s new to the dude snatching game. And all in all I’d just try to not make him feel at home still. I wouldn’t wear jeans and a belt to sleep in or anything. And also I’d know I have someone to ask about selecting better outfits for going out.

I agree that women are generally viewed as more innocent in most situations. There are a few reasons I think that make it that way. One of the first things that come to mind is women are associated with “beautiful”, “cute”, “gentle”…ect. And anyone would just assume that a creature associated with words like that will be nice and not as likely to do bad things. Like in the animal kingdom, there are certain animals that we all think of as harmless. Bunny rabbits, puppies, koala bears, penguins…all these animals have similar reputations as women. They’re cute, people love them, and would never expect them of foul play. If mother goose had to scold a puppy or rat for getting into the trash, she’d obviously scold the rat. Even though the rat could be the nicest church going, never done a bad thing in his life, rat ever! Appearances definitely make certain people more likely to be accused of wrong doings.
Another reason why women aren’t suspected as much during crime investigation could be that they’re not as brave/stupid/aggressive. Generally women are more reserved and not as likely to make rash idiotic decisions based on a rush of adrenalin or hormones. Men on the other hand will just go insane if someone threatens their dominance/credibility. Especially when alcohol is involved, anyone who’s ever seen a drunken argument between two guys knows what I’m saying. Logic is completely thrown to the wind and it basically becomes a butting heads primal argument…until one person either backs down or throws a punch. Girls can get into confrontation too, all I’m saying is it isn’t nearly as common for women to act a fool.
The last and simplest reason is that women are generally just too tiny to do crime. Sure they can steal shit because their little and crafty, they can do blue collar crimes, and maybe a butch woman could beat someone to a pulp. But 90% of women are too little and dainty to commit violent crimes, or crimes that involve confrontation. It would be like a 12yr old boy trying to rob a bank…unless he had a bazooka no one would take him seriously. They’d just be like….umm can someone call this kids mom? He probably needs to finish his spelling home work before he’s allowed to have blue box mac and cheese. That’s the same thing that would happen to a girl. No one would take her seriously.
My first point about the appearance of individuals definitely applies to the race vs crime argument as well. Because weather cops will admit it or not, everyone see’s a black dude as more shady than a white dude. It may not be justified, or it may be justified…but the fact is when someone see’s a black man walking near them at night, they obviously worry they’re going to get mugged or something. Unless the man is dressed super nice, then he probably won’t be looked at like he would in jeans and a t-shirt. Likewise..seeing a homeless looking white dude at night,…you think he’s going to mug/rape/sell your organs..ect. These are all just how people’s appearance makes us think their less innocent and more likely to do wrong. I’m a white male and do not come across as menacing, but if I were to wear really baggy jeans halfway down my ass with chains hanging off of them, get a tattoo on my face and neck, wear a white beater, shave my head and wear a hat really low over my eyes…I bet people would think I 100% served time in jail. Its all about appearance, what we associate with other people who have done wrong.

There are so many different kinds of athletes out there, so I think it’s hard to really narrow down what an athlete looks like. But If I were to take the major sports like, football, basketball, baseball, soccer, golf, tennis..ect. I think that an athlete will inevitably be physically fit and look like they take care of their body. Athletes are typically on the younger side, because a lot of sports require endurance and tough physical tests. There’s a lot of wear on the body in most sports, whether it be getting tackled by a 400lb beast in football, or putting tremendous amounts of torque on torso in golf.
Now if we were to bring race into the equation, I’d say it really doesn’t matter too much. Granted, black people do seem to have some genetic advantage when it comes to pure physical stature and leaping ability. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t white or Mexican guys out there who are equally as huge/agile/coordinated…ect.
I personally am a white male with red hair, 6’ 3”, 200lbs. So at this size I have a pretty good build for basketball, which I’ve played and been rather good at my whole life. I would also be a good build for a wide receiver thanks to my long arms. I have a 38in sleeve length, when the normal guy is somewhere around 34-36in. I’m pretty naturally coordinated and have great hand eye. I played golf in high school and my body type also gave me definite advantages in that sport too. Being tall and having long arms meant that I could get a ton of easy club head speed just because my swing was so long.
On the other hand, I have a definite disadvantage when it comes to girth and the ability to put on lots of muscle weight. I’ve been lifting really hard for over a year and have basically plateau’d at 200lbs. My lanky build limits me to sports where contact is low, I’m tall and don’t weigh all that much for being 6’3”. So as you could imagine, I would be very easy to move on an offensive line. I’ve never seen my skin/hair color as a hindrance or reason why I shouldn’t be able to compete athletically. I have a great athlete’s body and the skills to go with it, so who cares if I’m a ginger. I’d challenge any black guy to a game of 1 on 1 and assume I’d win. Well, any black buy who isn’t 6’6”, 250lbs and can leap out of the building…cuz that’s just not fair. I’d actually be curious to ask a group of people I didn’t know if they thought I’d be an athlete, and specifically a good basketball player. I bet not too many would expect I’d be good.

I choose my religion partially because my upbringing, as I’m sure many of us do. But religion was never pushed on me, I wasn’t persuaded or encouraged. Sure my parents had their own opinions on things, but they didn’t guide me in that aspect. The first time I went to church was probably when I was 8yrs old for my little cousin’s baptism. Then again like 10yrs later for some special Christmas service that everyone was attending. So as you could have gathered, I’m not religious in the sense of practicing and associating myself with one god or another. But I also couldn’t say I completely appose or disbelieve the idea that there is a higher power and afterlife. It would be nice to think there’s something after this life, I just don’t really worry about it too much.
I’m a good person, and live my life by my own values and scruples. That’s what religion is about to me, being a good human being and treating my fellow man as I would like to be treated. Its not hard to live my these simple rules. Somehow though I see people all the time who consider themselves “religious”, and are the biggest dickheads you could meet. Just labeling yourself as a Christian doesn’t make you a good person, you have to live a good life. And I just think its easier to skip the classification and be the best person I can be.
People tend to judge in a big way once they know what religion people are. Like Jews are greedy and frugal, and Muslims love blowing shit up, and Christians are pretentious, self righteous, and blind to other’s ways. I know there are other religions but I don’t really remember them. Basically what I’m trying to say is that its all stupid. Stereo types are there for a reason, but their also 90% BS I’d say. Its like anything else, when one idiot does something majorly fucked up and associates with a certain religion or race or social class….it just gives the whole group a shitty reputation.
For example: The mail man that went “postal” kind of messed up all post office workers reputations for the rest of time. I’d be willing to bet most people that go into a post office now generally assume that the person behind the counter hates their life and wants to start shooting mother fuckers at any given second. I know for me personally, the people that work at the Frasier street Post office scare the shit out of me….and they are in fact mostly ass holes. So who knows, maybe they all want to shoot me right before they off themselves.. but I’d like to think it’s just a prejudice I have toward them.
The end =D
