SAS-70, SafeHarbor, ISO27001, PCI, Regular Security Audits, ask any SaaS vendor what types of audits they have to pass and comply with in order to win even modest contracts (under $100K) and keep their customers happy. SaaS companies are serious about best practices because the contracts will often hold them liable if there is a breach.

There are lots of things that can be done to significantly reduce the risk. It appears that there is a business opportunity for someone with some Security Operations savvy to set up a consulting outfit and/or data center for Municipal and State governments. I leave out the Feds because DOD, NSA, et al are already well informed about best practices.

First.

They need to start instituting some standard security measures in these facilities. Something as simple as two factor authentication and authorized IP addresses only could go a long way toward weeding out some of these attacks.

From geometry: All Squares are Rectangles, but not all Rectangles are Squares.

In Constitutional Law: All Natural Born Citizens are Citizens, but not all Citizens are Natural Born Citizens.

Logic, Logic, Logic.

Fortis,

You seemed to have missed the best source - Whitehouse.gov. Look at the very first executive order issued by BS/BO.

This article is also coincident with the DOW closing at 11,000. Everyone thinks that means we are recovering. What it really means is that since our dollars are cheaper, so are our stocks. Investors can use foreign currencies to bid up the price of the stocks with cheaper dollars.

Did anyone catch Obama's lack of understanding about how Auto insurance works?

He was making an analogy about how when he was poor (if that was ever true) and he was upset because his Auto Insurance would not pay for needed repairs. Maybe he doesn't know how to read a policy. If he did, he would know that Auto Insurance usually only covers repairs in the instance of an accident, and then for your own car, only if you have comprehensive and/or collision insurance.

Warantees on the other hand usually cover repairs, but they too are subject to restrictions for abuse (in health care this is for things like drug-use, obesity, smoking, etc.).

And everyone just let this pass. What I learned from this, was that Obama had very little practical understanding of the world, does not really read contracts (like the Constitution?), and should resign in shame.

Bush was piloried in the Media for not making the logical leap from 'Bin Laden wants to perform an act of terror on US Soil' in a daily briefing about a month before the 9/11 attacks.

Now we have an immminent symbolic date for a sort of 'punch' that will leave us 'stunned' by a regime that has been developing nuclear capability for the last 20+ years.

Will the left pilory BS/BO if he fails to stop it?

I get Buckley's point.

I would amend it to say 546 randomly drawn names in the phone book to account for:

435 - ROTUS
100 - SOTUS
9 - SCJOTUS
1 - POTUS
and
1 - TOTUS

Regarding the daily dead count, they won't publish it because they don't want to tell you that 2009 was the worst single year for US Soldier deaths in Afghanistan by a factor of 2.
