56 knots = 64.4 mph (Knots x 1.150 = mph)

A few years ago I was driving south on I-5, a few miles north of San Diego, where I had a good view of the ocean for several miles. There was a large Navy ship cruising off shore about 5 miles out, that ship was visible out my passenger window for about 20 minutes and I was driving at normal freeway speeds.

Things must be a bit different in California. Normally the Sheriff is an elected county official, not attached to or controlled by a city mayor. I could see the mayor having jurisdiction over the Chief of Police, but not a Sheriff. In their own county, normally a county sheriff has more power than a state governor.

It does seem that this guy needs some anger management help.

As a veteran, it does make me angry that someone would claim medals that they didn't earn, but unless those claims are used to defraud someone I don't see this rising to the level of a crime.

Where was the First Officer after the captain flaked out? He should have taken charge and so on down the chain of command. It looks like Carnival Corp needs to hire crews that are professional.
