"And it’s not glory where you have a lot of white officers running these guys into cannon fodder. It’s like a real, they were real heroes.”
Sounds to me like he was implying the 54th Mass weren't "real heroes," just cannon fodder. Maybe he didn't mean it that way, but that's sure what it sounds like.

I don't get it. It's not like SVU was going to make OWS look bad. Their loss, really.

The trailers for this movie made me think it looked pretty stupid, but when I saw it I really enjoyed it. I don't think it was necessarily anti-human either; it was more a warning about the dangers inherent in biological engineering and experimentation.

Have you seen the movie? If you have, you might want to watch it again. If not, don't make critiques based on what you think happens in the movie based on a trailer.

I don't know about the rest of you, but my not inconsiderable amount of time spent playing Mario kart Wii has not caused me to ram other drivers on purpose in real life, throw turtle shells at them, or throw banana peels on the road. Although that would be kind of fun.

Why do you assume Chastain has complete ignorance of academic studies? Something I learned a couple weeks in medical school is that even studies published in journals like the NEJM and JAMA have to be critically evaluated to see if the results warrant the conclusion given. Study design is very important in determining the validity of a study, and while I haven't read the study in question here, it does sound like it has some questionable parameters. Why did they use pre-schoolers when SpongeBob isn't targeted to pre-schoolers? Why did they rely on parents' judgment of "normal attention span" instead of having an expert in child psychology do it? What was the subject pool? Have the study's results been replicated? Even well-designed studies that show some result are unable to be duplicated sometimes. Just because a study is "academic" doesn't necessarily mean it was well done and valid, even if it was published.

I wonder if that guy I've seen a few times outside Water Tower Place near my apartment claiming that only Russia could have carried out the 9/11 attacks has been invited...maybe he has to make a film first? :D

When I first saw the trailer I didn't find it interesting, but then again I'm not familiar with the source material at all.

Art is either good or it's not - it has nothing to do with the sexual proclivities of the artist.

One hopes that the Hollywood community will realize that a move like this will in fact only make Mila more popular with moviegoers - and thus more likely to draw people in to her movies. Then again, Hollywood did make a bunch of money-losing anti-war films during the Bush years, so...
